Introduction
Verses 1–10
The destruction of Judah and Jerusalem is here coming on by degrees. God so ordered it to show that he has no pleasure in the ruin of sinners, but had rather they would turn and live, and therefore gives them both time and inducement to repent and waits to be gracious.
Verses 11–21

Verses 22–23
These last two verses of this book have a double aspect. 1. They look back to the prophecy of Jeremiah, and show how that was accomplished, 2 Chron. 36:22.
We have here, I. A short but sad account of the utter ruin of Judah and Jerusalem within a few years after Josiah’s death. 1. The history of it in the unhappy reigns of Jehoahaz for three months , Jehoiakim for eleven years, Jehoiach in three months , and Zedekiah eleven years, 2 Chron. 36:11.
