Proverbs 29

Verse 5

A man that flattereth his neighbour 1 spreadeth a net for his feet.

  1. He who gives ear to the flatterer is in danger as the bird is before the fowler.

Verse 6

In the transgression of an evil man there is a 1 snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

  1. He is always ready to fall into the snare that he lays for others.

Verse 9

If a wise man contendeth with 1 a foolish man, whether he rageth or laugheth, there is no rest.

  1. He can hear no admonition no matter how it is spoken.

Verse 18

1 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

  1. Where there are not faithful ministers of the word of God.

Verse 19

A 1 servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understandeth he will not answer.

  1. He who is of a servile and rebellious nature.

Verse 25

The fear of man bringeth a 1 snare: but he who putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

  1. He who fears man more than God falls into a snare and is destroyed.

Verse 26

Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's 1 judgment cometh from the LORD.

  1. He does not need to flatter the ruler, for what God has appointed will come to him.
