Psalm 41

Introduction

God’s kindness and truth have often been the support and comfort of the saints when they have had most experience of man’s unkindness and treachery. David here found them so, upon a sick-bed; he found his enemies very barbarous, but his God very gracious. I.

Verses 1–4

Promises to Those Who Consider the Poor. To the chief musician. A psalm of David. 1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

Verses 5–13

David often complains of the insolent conduct of his enemies towards him when he was sick, which, as it was very barbarous in them, so it could not but be very grievous to him.
